Care Instructions

Always use protection:

Why? Read more about the enemies of feather and down and why your pillows turn yellow and why your pillows go flat.

Always use a duvet cover for your Down Comforter to prevent the yellowing. It will stay cleaner and last longer. For your Down Pillows always use a pillow protector and a pillow case. For your Featherbed it is not uncommon to find a deep fitted sheet, approximately 21", to place over your Featherbed to prevent your body oils from discoloring the outer shell of the Featherbed while you sleep at night.

IMPORTANTAll of our luxury down bedding items are down proof. If you wash your down pillow, feather pillow, down comforter, or mattress topper you will compromise the down proofing and may experience micro feather or down leakage and will void your warranty.

How often should you wash your linens?

Bed linens should be washed every weekend or every seven (7) days of use. You should was your fitted sheet, flat sheet, pillowcases, pillow protectors and duvet covers.

Comforter Care:

Always use a duvet cover to protect against soiling. Spot clean when possible.  For major cleaning use a professional launderer familiar with cleaning down products. If you must wash your down comforter drying it properly is very important. Place in the dryer LOW heat for 2 or 3 drying cycles making sure the down within the baffles is completely dry.

IMPORTANT: Baffle Box Down Comforters are to be used on the bed with the law label, or if it has been removed, the Down & Feather Co. goose butt logo oriented to the foot of the bed.

Down Pillow Care:

Always use a pillow protector (pillow protectors have zippers). Spot clean when possible. Place in the dryer LOW heat to refresh the down or hang it outside on a clean line. If the DOWN pillow loses its bounce, it probably needs to be cleaned or refurbished. Use a professional launderer familiar with cleaning down products.

Pillow Protector (with zipper) Featherbed Protector Care:

Machine launder in cold water on gentle cycle with a cold water rinse. Use a mild detergent without added bleach, whiteners or softeners. Do no use a liquid fabric softer as this can damage the cotton fibers.

Feather Pillow Care:

Always use a pillow protector (pillow protectors have zippers). Spot clean when possible. Place in the dryer LOW heat to refresh the down or hang it outside on a clean line. If the feather pillow loses its bounce you can always hand 'fluff' it before use. Use a professional launderer familiar with cleaning luxury products.

Featherbed Care:

Always use a feather bed protector. Spot clean when possible. Mattress toppers are to be used 'under' your fitted sheet and 'inside' the protector. You should wash the protector regularly. We highly recommend you flip your mattress topper, we do suggest rotating it periodically to extend its life and minimize body impressions. For major cleaning use a professional launderer familiar with cleaning down products.

Goose Down Bed Care:

Same care should be taken as you would for your 'featherbed'. Always use a feather bed protector. Spot clean when possible. Mattress toppers are to be used 'under' your fitted sheet and 'inside' the protector. You should wash the protector regularly. We do suggest rotating it periodically to extend its life just you might your mattress. Body impressions or down fill migration between the baffles will vary based on many factors including how much you toss and turn during the night and other bedding related activities. To help reduce body impressions we recommend snapping your topper like a flat sheet to help redistribute the down. For major cleaning use a professional launderer familiar with cleaning down products.

IMPORTANT: Baffle Box Down Mattress Toppers are to be used on the bed under your fitted sheet. You may experience body impressions due to how much you toss and turn during the night and other bedding related activities over time which can be reduced, but not eliminated, through rotation and flipping your topper 2 - 4 times a year.
