We designed our pillows using very specific materials that create unique characteristics or personalities. For example, because we have removed all the feathers that might poke you, you will sleep more “IN” our down pillows and “ON” our feather pillows. This 800+ fill power down pillows 'personality' is to sleep very soft, even in extra firm, very light and very quiet.

All of our goose down sleep pillows come in four densities; soft, medium, firm and extra firm. But the fact remains, once we removed all the feather that can poke you, this pillow will be very light, very soft and very quiet.

A better way to think about density is actually thickness. Soft, would be thin, medium would be thick, firm would be thicker and extra firm would be the thickest. If you are a side sleeper, and roughly 70% of us are, and you have broad shoulders you will need a thicker pillow.

Absolutely not. In fact, it's just the opposite. The higher the fill power, the higher the quality — but the higher the fill power, the softer it will sleep. For example, an 850 fill power will be softer than an 800 fill power down pillow. Even the extra firm will sleep very soft, but it will be the thickest, as mentioned before. But how is that possible? We can't change the fact that our down is very soft. No matter how much we cram into the pillow it's still going to be soft but now it's going to be thicker

The best way to answer this question is actually to explain how we make the pillow a different density or thickness. Density; soft, medium, firm and extra firm is determined by how many ounces of down we fill the pillow with.

For example, our standard soft density 850 fill power goose down pillow has 14 ounces inside. The medium density pillow will have 16 ounces of down inside. The down inside the pillow is still very soft but now there is more of it making the pillow thicker so the pillows 'personality' of be very soft remains regardless of the amount of down used to make the pillow.

Very carefully and professionally. But no one likes that answer since everyone just wants to throw it in the washing machine. Which you absolutely can if you have to. But, you should do all you can to prevent the need to wash the 850 fill power down pillow either personally or professionally.

We always recommend you use a pillow protector, which has a zipper, and of course a pillow case. You should wash your pillow case and pillow protector with the rest of your laundry each weekend to prevent your pillow from going flat and from turning yellow. If the pillow itself gets dirty spot clean when possible.

The best way to know the answer is to understand the 'personality type' of a down pillow.

Thankfully, I have been preaching about this 'HUGE' difference for a very long time now but ...

1. If you like your pillow to be very light, Then a down pillow is for you.
2. If you like your pillow to be very soft, even when it's 'extra firm', Then a down pillow is for you.
3. If you like a pillow to be quiet when you rest or move your head while you sleep, Then a down pillow is for you. (if you know you know)
4. If you like a pillow that is soft on your 'ears'. Then a down pillow is for you.
5. If you like a pillow to puff (technical term) up around your head. Then a down pillow is for you.
6. If you like a pillow that returns to its normal pillowy (technical term) shape. Then a down pillow is for you.
7. If you like to sink "IN" your pillow. Then a down pillow is for you.

A good down pillow typically has a fill power between 600 and 850+. Fill power measures the quality and loft of the down clusters, not the firmness of the pillow. Higher fill powers contain larger, more resilient down clusters that create greater loft, softness, and durability.

For many sleepers, 600 to 700 fill power offers excellent comfort, while 700 to 850+ fill power is considered premium luxury bedding.
